Summer 2025 is shaping up to be a scorcher, so it’s the perfect time to breathe new life into your home with the ancient art of Feng Shui. This Chinese practice harmonizes your space to attract positive energy, bringing lightness and joy with minimal effort. Nataliia Myronova, a Feng Shui and spiritual advisor at Nebula, shares six simple steps—plus a bonus tip—to refresh your home for the season.

Top Tips For Summer Feng Shui

Step 1: Clear the Space

Start with a thorough declutter to allow energy to flow freely. Wash floors, dust shelves, clean windows and mirrors, and sort through wardrobes to donate or discard unused items. Clutter blocks life energy, so keep corners free of chaos. If cleaning the entire house feels overwhelming, break it into manageable tasks and tackle them one at a time.

Step 2: Let in the Light

Embrace summer’s vibrancy by opening curtains and swapping heavy fabrics for light, flowy ones. Place mirrors opposite windows to reflect sunlight, amplifying brightness. In the evenings, opt for warm lamps or candles to enhance the fire element’s cozy glow. Add bright accents like red, orange, or yellow pillows, blankets, or towels. Incorporate water elements, such as a small fountain or a refreshed glass of water, to invite wealth and luck, per Feng Shui principles.

Step 3: Plants and Flowers

Summer is ideal for indoor greenery. Choose plants with soft, rounded leaves like jade, spathiphyllum, or Ficus benjamina for nourishing Shen Qi energy. Avoid thorny plants like cacti, which can “cut” energy and create tension. If you have cacti, relocate them to a balcony or the west/northwest corner to act as protective elements. Potted herbs or flowers like lavender or basil also enhance energy flow.

Step 4: Activate Indoor Zones

Use the Feng Shui “bagua” map to divide your home into zones, each tied to a life aspect:

  • Wealth Zone (Southeast, Wood element): Add tall green plants, water features, and brown or green accents. Crystals like citrine or green aventurine boost prosperity.
  • Love and Relationships Zone (Southwest, Earth/Fire elements): Incorporate paired objects (e.g., two candles or vases) and use pink, red, or warm cream tones.
  • Health Zone (Center, Earth element): Keep this area open and uncluttered. Add low plants in clay pots or stone decor in warm yellows and golds.

Matching elements to each zone enhances the energy throughout your home.

Step 5: Refresh Outdoor Spaces

Extend your Feng Shui practice to balconies, terraces, or yards. Clear clutter—remove at least 10 unnecessary items or store them away. Add potted flowers or herbs like petunias, rosemary, or calendula to keep the space vibrant. A bowl of water for birds or a small fountain activates luck. Wind chimes, made of wood for growth or metal for focus, dispel stagnant energy and add soothing sounds.

Step 6: Maintain Energy All Summer

Feng Shui is about consistent care, not just a one-time overhaul. Open windows daily for fresh air, dust corners regularly to prevent energy stagnation, and light a candle in the home’s center every few days. Weekly, check plants for wilting, rearrange small decor like vases or pillows, and refresh water elements. Monthly, update bouquets or color accents. Create a schedule to manage these tasks without feeling overwhelmed.

Bonus Tip: The Power of the Center

Locate your home’s center—geometrically or intuitively—where energies converge. Keep this space clear of clutter or heavy furniture. Place a low plant in a clay pot or natural stones to symbolize stability. Spend a few quiet moments here weekly to connect with your home’s energy.

Embrace the Season’s Energy

Summer 2025 calls for simplicity and flow. Gradually update your space, avoid clutter, and prioritize airy, sunny textures. With these Feng Shui tips, you’ll feel a subtle yet powerful shift in your home’s energy, welcoming joy and harmony all season long.
